Free Roam VR is the hottest trend in location-based VR and arcades. Up until now, operators had two choices:
1. Overpay for an expensive arena package that locks them into one software provider.
2. Build a do-it-yourself arena, which often looked unprofessional.
Private Label VR has been building professional infrastructure for VR arcades since 2016. The ROAM Arena is designed to cost less than an operator could build themselves. Still, it has architectural and interactive features that look great and attract more players.
“The challenge with VR attractions is when they’re not being played, they look dead,’ said McKay Christenson, Founder and CEO of Private Label VR. “We invested a lot to engineering a system that is affordable to manufacture. An operator couldn’t make this themselves for what we can sell it for. We wanted to make a great-looking attraction that operators can buy, set up in a day, and start making money.”
The ROAM Arena can be used with any software, like Synthesis VR, Hero Zone, VR Cave, Phenomena, and more. It can store and charge any headset, including the HTC VIVE Focus 3, Pico 4, and Meta Quest 3. It has optional storage and power for high-end gaming PCs to support PCVR streaming via WIFI 6e for the most visually compelling immersive experiences.
Operators can now choose their headset, launcher, and game library from the growing selection of companies in the location-based VR market. ROAM Arena has a futuristic branding package, but operators can also choose to custom-brand the arena for their FEC.
ROAM Arena comes in three standard sizes that fit in almost any space. Depending on the software selected, it can accommodate up to 30 players at a time.
· 16 x 16’ (4x4 meters)
· 20 x 20’ (5x5 meters)
· 33 x 33’ (10x10 meters)
The ROAM Arena starts at only $13,900 plus shipping. It comes pre-wired for headsets, controllers, and peripheral charging. It also has storage and power for computers, networking equipment, and a booming sound system. Options include large-format digital signage displays, LED video walls, padded flooring, an attendant call system, and more. Mostly flat-packed, with the more complex parts pre-assembled, it’s easy for two people to set up on-site in about a day.
“Free Roam VR offers the best return on investment of any virtual reality attraction on the market,” commented Bob Cooney, founder of The VR Collective. “The technology is all off-the-shelf now, with prices per player as low as $500. The ROAM Arena makes it possible to have a high-end free-roam VR attraction complete for under $20K. With a typical attraction generation of $100K to $500K a year, it’s become a no-brainer for any entertainment center looking to offer high-end immersive entertainment.”
