Before IAAPA last year, the VRsenal family was hit with the news that one of their leaders, COO Jeremy Pond, had stage 4 liver cancer. Jeremy is only 35 years old, with a wife and four kids. He’s a good man and has been balancing his treatment with continuing to work when possible. As you might imagine, it’s been difficult. He’s handled it like a pro.
The initial treatments, while helpful, didn’t quite do the trick. So, for the next 3-months, he’s about to undergo treatment where they remove his stem cells and bombard him with chemo to wipe out any cancer. This treatment will also kill his bone marrow and white blood cells. They then transfuse the stem cells to rebuild his blood and immune system. He’s also a candidate for an experimental immunotherapy treatment called Keytruda if that doesn’t work.
VRsenal, as a family-centric business, is doing everything it can to support him. And I hope you will join me in lending our industry’s support.
Jeremy’s family launched a $50K Go Fund Me campaign (you can read the details in his words at the link). It’s stalled at $30K. I want to get it over the top. So, I will host a marathon livestream to raise awareness and money for Jeremy and his family.
The Stream-A-Thon will go live this Thursday morning at 8 AM Pacific, 11 AM Eastern, and will continue as long as it takes to get to $50K, or I pass out. It’s like the Jerry Lewis Telethon for you older kids – I’ll tap into my network of interesting people for interviews, laughs, music, and other shenanigans.
