MELBOURNE, FL—April 23, 2024— Rilix LLC, a leading developer of commercial-grade virtual reality entertainment devices, is proud to announce that its roller coaster simulators, including Andamiro’s SpongeBob VR Bubble Coaster, have received the prestigious ETL Mark, affirming compliance with UL Standard 22 for amusement machines.
The ETL Mark, issued by Intertek, is recognized globally as a designation of quality, safety and performance. Products bearing the ETL Mark underscore conformity with all applicable North American safety standards.
“Receiving the ETL Mark after a yearlong evaluation demonstrates our commitment to safety and quality, asserting to operators, distributors and consumers alike, that our VR coaster simulators meet critical safety and regulatory standards,” said Michael Carvalho, chief operating officer of Rilix. “This milestone not only reflects the hard work and dedication of the Rilix team, but also reinforces the company’s mission to deliver innovative and immersive top-tier entertainment technologies.”
Over the past year, Rilix has significantly improved its coaster system, focusing on easier assembly, enhanced aesthetics and robust construction. Some notable enhancements include adjustable brackets for flexible marquee positioning, reinforced structures for increased durability and diamond plate surfaces for added traction in high-traffic sections. Additional updates comprise protective measures for wiring and wind system tubes, along with a redesigned fiberglass structure with streamlined (and stronger) contours and an enlarged card-reader shelf.
Recently, Rilix upgraded the coaster’s security cable and headset frame assembly, introducing a thicker steel rope with dual connection points for improved stability and load distribution. Plastic sleeves now protect the cable ends. To safeguard this highly tamper-resistant assembly, a 12-ton swaging press is employed to secure the cable end to the cable shaft.
“With continuous improvements like these backed by the ETL Mark, Rilix is set to expand its market reach, ensuring that more amusement operators can offer their patrons the thrill of VR roller coaster rides with the assurance of safety and quality,” Carvalho said.
The Rilix VR coaster is a standalone (all-in-one) virtual reality entertainment system using Meta Quest 2 headsets for a fully immersive experience. Designed with a durable fiberglass body comfortably seating two guests, it is the most cost-effective, unattended VR attraction on the market. The original Rilix coaster ships with 12 exciting rides, while Andamiro’s SpongeBob VR Bubble Coaster offers with three scenic Bikini Bottom episodes.
