CEMA Summer has come to an end!

 California Entertainment Machine AssociationCalifornia, September 12, 2023 - CEMA Summer has come to an end!  We had a productive summer with legislator visits and planning for the 2024 Show. CEMA is thrilled to announce the date for the 2024 Spotlight Show

CEMA 2024 SPOTLIGHT SHOW

Friday February 2nd

to be held at Captain’s Auction

We look forward to seeing you there!

Jason Scherer (The Pelican Group), Jim Wyatt (CEMA President, NEN), Jarhett Blonien (Lobbyist, Blonien & Assoc), Ron Hunt (Betson)Your California Entertainment Machine Association is also pleased to report the success of our visit to Sacramento, to meet with legislators at the capital.

Meetings were held with numerous Assembly members from around the state:

  • Sharon Quirk-Silva District 67, Los Angeles and Orange Counties

(Chair, Arts. Entertainment, Sports, and Tourism Committee)

  • Eloise Gomez-Reyes District 50 San Bernardino County
  • Joe Patterson District 5 El Dorado and Placer Counties
  • Avelino Valencia District 68 Orange County
  • Gail Pellerin District 28 Santa Clara, Santa Cruz Counties
  • Mike Fong District 49 Los Angeles County
  • Greg Wallis District 47 Riverside, San Bernardino Counties
  • Gregg Hart District 37 San Luis Obispo, Santa Barbara Ctys
  • Bill Essayli District 63 Corona, Norco, Lake Elsinore

Discussion topics of concern to our association members included:

  • California fuel prices and fuel taxes and their impact on our industry;
  • The California Gambling Commission and the standing of skill games;
  • State regulations impacting owners and operators in our industry;
  • Rising wages across the state;
  • Impacts on our industry during Covid shutdowns;
  • And most importantly, who can CEMA count on when we need help?

We got a positive answer to that question. We made important alliances on our legislative trip, which we will increase on subsequent visits. Important and powerful legislators now know who we are and what we do. They understand our industry far better than they might have, had they not met with members of our board. While this was CEMA’s first trip to Sacramento, it will not be our last. It was a great success! We had commitments from several legislators to attend our upcoming show in 2024.

We work hard on your behalf. Feel free to join in.
