Las Vegas, NV - The American Amusement Machine Association (AAMA) has announced the induction of Sam and Gary Stern into the Coin-Op Amusement Industry Hall of Fame (HOF). The induction ceremony took place on March 30, 2023, at the Amusement Expo International (AEI) Beers & Cheers Event in Las Vegas, NV.
The AAMA Coin-Op Amusement Industry Hall of Fame was established to honor individuals who have made significant contributions to the coin-op and location-based entertainment industry. The selection committee reviews nominations and chooses the inductees based on their impact on the industry.
Sam and Gary Stern have been involved in the pinball industry for decades. Sam Stern founded Stern Electronics in the 1970s, and his son, Gary Stern started up his own company (Data East) in the 1980s. Under their leadership, Stern Pinball has become the leading pinball manufacturer in the world.
"It's an incredible honor to be inducted into the Coin-Op Amusement Industry Hall of Fame," said Gary Stern. "Pinball runs in our blood, and we're grateful to have been able to make a positive impact on the industry."
The Stern family's contributions to the pinball industry have been significant. They have introduced many new innovations and designs, including the introduction of LCD screens into pinball machines. Stern Pinball has also worked with the biggest brands on the planet such as Marvel, Star Wars, and Ghostbusters to create licensed pinball machines. And with its newest Insider Connected platform and technology of connecting players to their passion, Stern Pinball continues to drive the future of pinball.
"We're thrilled to induct Sam and Gary Stern into the Hall of Fame," said Pete Gustafson, President of AAMA. "Their contributions to the pinball industry have been immense, and they have inspired future industry leaders."
The Coin-Op Amusement Industry Hall of Fame will continue to honor individuals who have made outstanding contributions to the industry. Nominations will be reviewed annually by the selection committee for induction in the AAMA Coin-Op Amusement Industry Hall of Fame.
